Really great stay overall, I'd rate it 4.4 out of 5. Pros- amazing Staff, excellent food, great location and area. Cons- our room (merts) was great and charming but the bed sunk down a bit in the middle so my husband and I didn't sleep that well, and in the morning (530am I got up or else not a big deal -they serve coffee at 7am downstairs) I couldn't get our room coffee machine working. Which isn't a big deal,there's a gas station a half block away, I just wasn't ready to go for a walk before I had my coffee- lol. Definitely don't let these things deter you from coming, we had a really special anniversary overnight here, and they were very accommodating with us as last minute guests. We went for a walk in the morning before breakfast and the town was really charming. It has a beautiful shaded courtyard to sit out and have wine,coffee, etc. Thank you again for the wonderful stay!
If you are ever looking for a nice little get a way, not far from the cities, Nicolin Mansion Bed &Breakfast is a great place to go!!
The Mansion is a great restored old house. We stayed in the chamberlain room. It's a great room but unfortunately it's also adjacent to the kitchen and main areas including the front door and stairs. As a result, it was a little less of a private get away than we were looking for. Otherwise, this is a great spot.
My cousin took me there for a belated birthday gift. And a very nice gift it was!!. The mansion was very cool, even sat down at the baby grand and pretended I remembered how to play! We stayed in Gail's room what a delight. The innkeeper is also an awesome chef! It was just the two of us overnight therefore for breakfast as well. I felt he treated us as if he had a full table. The 3 course candlelight breakfast was very good. I had some non traditional foods that I would probably not order, but they were delicious. Being it was a birthday celebration my cousin asked if he might do something to acknowledge it to surprise me. He really did!! I don't want to say in case he were to to do the same for you some time. It was nothing big but it meant the world to me and I truly enjoyed it. Thanks Kevin!!!
The place was wonderful! The breakfast was delicious, and the outdoor garden was beautiful! If I ever take a trip to Minnesota again, I will definitely go back! The only downside is that the WiFi is very poor upstairs, it works great in the downstairs common areas.
Such a beautifully restored and lovingly cared for home! The hosts are welcoming and gracious, every visit is a pleasure.
